Canterbury in Europe
Today’s Canterbury thrives as an open, inclusive and cosmopolitan place. It is home to people from across the EU. Canterbury welcomes fellow European visitors and thousands of EU students.
Many of us in Canterbury were shocked, depressed and angered by the result, which followed an unnecessary referendum fought by a ruthless and dishonest Leave campaign appealing to people’s worst prejudices.
Some people will say that we should simply accept the result of the Referendum, but we respectfully disagree. We know that the Leave side would not have abandoned their cause if the result of their narrow win had gone the other way, and neither will we. In fact we know that much of the public realises that it has been conned by the Leave campaign, and that opinion is moving in our direction.
For more than 40 years of the UK’s membership there has been little positive coverage or public discourse on the EU. That is changing, and we are determined to be leading that change in our city.
Canterbury For Europe
Canterbury For Europe is true grass roots movement based around an informal Facebook group. We are growing fast. We are affiliated to Britain for Europe and East Kent European Movement. We continue to forge links with other pro EU campaigners in the UK and beyond.
We hold a business meeting typically once a month. This is normally second Friday in the month, but not always. The best way to find out the date of the next meeting is to sign-up for emails on our contact us page.
